Exodus 2:13-14
13 When he went out the next day, behold, two Hebrews were struggling together. And he said to the man in the wrong, “Why do you strike your companion?” 14 He answered, “Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you mean to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?” Then Moses was afraid, and thought, “Surely the thing is known.”
Devotional
Moses goes out the next day and sees his own fighting. As a judge he chides the man in the wrong. But the Hebrew questions the role Moses had assumed over them. Was he made a prince and judge over them? But one day Moses would be their judge and deliverer. The Hebrew slave fears Moses will kill him as he did the Egyptian. What Moses had done had been seen. He became afraid. Anger is a sense of injustice whether real or not. We become angry in life and this is normal. The critical issue and decision is how we respond to what angers us. This is where God wants to draw our attention. God warns Cain to control his angry before he makes a bad decision and murders his brother Abel (Genesis 4:1-6). It is here we need God to save us. God save us from harming others. Moses will learn to allow God to fight his battles. So we must also.
